RISON - The Cleveland County Cutters & Strutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be hosting a Jakes Day youth event on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Old Turkey Farm off Mt. Elba Road south of Rison.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with station rotations beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event is free and is open to all youth up to the age of 16. Lunch will be served, and there will be door prizes and giveaways for those attending.
Jakes Day is an event organized through the NWFT that is designed to encourage to get involved with the outdoors.
The day will consist of youth rotating between a variety of stations that will introduce them to a variety of fields related to the outdoors. Stations include presentations from Quail Forever, taxidermist Jeff Hedden, Arkansas Game & Fish cadaver dog and pelts, University of Arkansas Forestry Department, a bb and shotgun range, a devotional by Bro. Wade Peddy and more.
