10  YEARS  AGOMAY  27,  2015The Kickstart Cleveland County Community Development Initiative is nearing the deadline of collecting responses to a community survey that will serve as a framework for future development projects and prove vital in the recruitment of businesses to the county.A 53-year-old man from the New Home community in northeast Cleveland County has been formally charged with rape after an alleged incident with a 16-year-old girl early this month, according to Gary Young, chief deputy for the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department.Two more plaques honoring local veterans were put up recently at Veterans Park in Rison, bringing the total number of plaques to 15. John Blanchard, a volunteer who is organizing the plaque drive, said the latest additions were to honor veterans from the Korean War and the Middle East conflicts.Phillip and Donna Young of the Rye community have announced they have sold the Broken Spoke restaurant and convenience store to David and Robin Young. Phillip and Donna Young bought the business 15 years ago from Johnny and Peggy Young. David Young is Phillip's younger brother, and his ownership of the business will mark the fifth Young family to have the business.20  YEARS  AGOMAY  25,  2005Authorities in Cleveland and Jefferson counties are continuing their search for the person(s) responsible for breaking into six convenience stores early Tuesday morning - three in Cleveland County and three in Jefferson County.
