10  YEARS  AGOMAY  13,  2015At Monday night's meeting of the Cleveland County School Board, Stan Sadler asked his fellow board members to consider some possible long-range construction projects for the district, including a new gym and technology center, and enlarging the cafeteria.The Woodlawn School Board approved a motion Monday night to refinance some of the district's debt that could result in more than $100,000 in savings. The board also approved a bid of $61,000 to convert the old music room into three classrooms.Community cleanups are scheduled this Saturday at three locations - Rison, Kingsland and New Edinburg - as part of a county-wide cleanup effort.The Junction City Dragons nipped the Woodlawn Bears, 1-0, in the championship game of the Class 2A South Regional Baseball Tournament at Woodlawn on Monday. Woodlawn will face McCrory in the first round of the state tourney at Marked Tree on Thursday.The 4x100 relay team of Jaylon Mitchem, Skylar Shipman, Jordan Brown and Cameron Reeves turned in a time of 45.23 seconds to earn a fourth place finish in the event at the Class 2A State Track Meet last week at Hot Springs. Both the Woodlawn Lady Bears and Rison Lady Wildcats ended their seasons with first round losses in the Class 2A South Regional Softball Tournament at Parkers Chapel last Thursday. Woodlawn was defeated by Foreman, 4-1, while Rison was blanked by Spring Hill, 4-0.20  YEARS  AGOMAY  11,  2005Construction is expected to begin as soon as school is out on converting the Rison High School assembly hall into four new classrooms that will be needed next fall when the high schools at Kingsland and Rison will be consolidated at the Rison campus.
