Dixon Helps Power Woodlawn To Victory Over Horatio, 13-3

WOODLAWN - Kathryn Dixon went 4-for-5 at the plate and the Woodlawn Lady Bears cashed in on 12 walks as they knocked off the Horatio Lady Lions, 13-3, in five innings last Thursday at Lady Bear Field.Horatio took an early 2-0 lead off a double and ground out in the top of the first before Lily White scored on an error in the bottom of the fame to pull the Lady Bears to within 2-1.Woodlawn then took control in the third when the Lady Bears scored eight runs, all coming with two out.After a ground-out to start the inning, Lillie Faye McWhorter drew a walk, and with two out, Karsyn Chastain reached on a dropped third strike. An error on Bay Aud's grounder allowed both runners to score, giving Woodlawn its first lead at 3-2.Maeley Simmons was then hit by a pitch and Lillian Bradley walked to load the bases. White then hammered a double to score all three runners, and Dixon brought White home with a follow-up single.Kendall Tooke then drew a walk, and an error on McWhorter's pop fly allowed Dixon to score. Harrison followed with a single that drove in Tooke to make it 10-2.Horatio had a sacrifice fly to plate a run in the top of the fourth before Dixon scored on an error and Harrison followed with a RBI single to give the Lady Bears a 12-3 lead.Woodlawn ended the game by the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth on Dixon's two-out RBI to make it 13-3.Chastain pitched all five innings to pick up the win for the Lady Bears. She scattered six hits and three walks while striking out three.In addition to Dixon's four hits and two RBIs, Harrison finished with two to drive in two runs. White and Simmons accounted for Woodlawn's other two hits....
