WOODLAWN - Woodlawn made 10-of-12 free throws in the first half as the Lady Bears overcame an early deficit to eventually blowout the Gurdon Lady Go Devils 57-37 win in 8-2A conference victory last Friday night at Woodlawn.Gurdon’s Brea Biley got off to a great start as she scored nine of her team-high 19 points in the first quarter to lead the winless Lady Devils to a 17-15 lead by the end of the opening period.In the second quarter, however, Jaci Hoyt and Lillie Faye McWhorter scored six points apiece as the Lady Bears surged ahead 30-26 by halftime. After scoring 15 points in the first half, Biley was held to just four more points over the final two quarters. Meanwhile, Woodlawn’s Kelsi Mack and Kathryn Dixon both hit a couple of 3’s in the second half to help the Lady Bears pull away. Woodlawn outscored Gurdon 17-7 in the fourth quarter.Hoyt paced the Lady Bears with 17 points followed by Mack with 15, McWhorter with 13 and Dixon with 10.Woodlawn evened their overall record to 11-11 overall and conference mark at 4-4 with the win.Woodlawn 55, Hampton 43WOODLAWN - Kathryn Dixon had four 3-pointers in the first half as the Woodlawn Lady Bears knocked off the Hampton Lady Bulldogs, 55-43, in an 8-2A conference game last Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Woodlawn Gym.Six points from Lillie Faye McWhorter and a trey from Dixon help put the Lady Bears up 13-10 at the end of the first quarter. Dixon was dialed in for the second quarter as she knocked down three 3-pointers to help give Woodlawn a 30-24 cushion at halftime.Kelsi Mack scored seven points in the third as the Lady Bears managed to add to their lead to go up by eight, 44-36, to start the fourth.Dixon and Jaci Hoyt both finished with 15 points apiece to pace Woodlawn while McWhorter followed with 14....
