RISON - Donations are being accepted for a memorial scholarship fund being set up in honor of the late Frederick Marsh, a 2020 graduate of Rison High School and a rookie officer with the Rogers Police Department.
Marsh died in July while trying to assist a swimmer in distress while on the Elk River in Noel, Mo.
He graduated with honors from Rison before attending Central Baptist College in Conway on a baseball scholarship. He eventually earned a degree at Ecclesia College, and was also an April 2026 graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy.
Virgil Hogan of Rison, who is organizing the scholarship, said the scholarship will be presented to a 2027 graduate of Rison High School whose character most exemplifies that of Marsh.
Donations are being accepted through Gateway Bank in Rison. Those donating can stop by or call the bank at (870) 325-6251.
