Five Woodlawn Athletes Sign With Colleges

ASU-Three Rivers is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association.WOODLAWN - Lillie-Faye McWhorter formally became an Arkansas Razorback last Wednesday when she inked a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Southeast Conference school.McWhorter was one of five Woodlawn baseball and softball players who signed letters of intent to play college athletics in a ceremony held inside the Woodlawn Gym last Wednesday. Two from Woodlawn, softball catcher Macy Harrison and baseball pitcher/shortstop Tate Hall, signed to play for the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home Trailblazers.Peyton Wells, a pitcher/infielder, signed to play baseball for the University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain at Mena while Mason Edmonds, a pitcher for the Bears’ baseball team, inked a letter to play for the Three Rivers Eagles at Malvern.McWhorter is the first Woodlawn softball player to sign with a major Division I university. “Lillie-Faye is really deceptive in the circle and has flown under the radar in the 2025 class,” said Arkansas Softball Coach Courtney Deifel on the university website. “She is incredibly talented and a Razorback through and through. She is incredibly competitive and we are glad she is staying home in Arkansas.”Last year as a junior, McWhorter posted a 1.00 earned run average (ERA) while recording 164 strikeouts over 82.2 innings of work in the circle as a junior in 2024 . She struck out 205 in 120.1 innings pitched while a sophomore during the 2023 season, compiling a 1.69 ERA.  As a freshman, McWhorter was one of two in her class to be named to the SBLive All-State softball first team after compiling a 0.45 ERA and 230 strikeouts over 107 innings while holding opponents to a .098 batting average.In addition to playing softbal...
