Veterans Dinner Set For Oct. 28

RISON - The Cleveland County Veterans Association will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner Saturday, Oct. 28, organizers John Blanchard and Roger McClellan have announced. The dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.

USDA Commodities To Be Distributed Saturday at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month. The pantry is an equal opportunity distributor.

RISON - After a lengthy discussion, the Cleveland County Quorum Court unanimously approved a motion to spend almost $300,000 for new doors, locks, plumbing and electrical work at the county jail to help keep it in compliance with state standards.

Benefit Fundraiser For Colemans Now Underway in Rison

RISON - Two fundraising efforts have been organized by community members to benefit Ronnie and Sandra Coleman of Rison. Ronnie, a former county road department employee, is currently battling stage four cancer.
