The descendants of James Samuel and Nora Cash Puckett will gather for their annual reunion on Saturday, June 21st, at the Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall, 2230 Hwy. 35 North near Rison.Doors will open at 10 a.m., and a potluck lunch will be served at noon.

RISON - Superintendent Davy King told the Cleveland County School Board Monday night that he will arrange a meeting with the district's architect and financial adviser to review the district's options to take advantage of more than $2.
Woodlawn senior pitcher Lillie Faye McWhorter was named the 2025 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for Arkansas on Monday, recognizing her as the top high school softball player in the state regardless of classification. Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating each state’s best high school athletes in each sport for their success on the field, in the classroom and in the community. McWhorter will be playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks next season.

CHICAGO - In its 40th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes, Gatorade announced Monday that Lillie Faye McWhorter of Woodlawn High School is the 2024-25 Gatorade Arkansas Softball Player of the Year.
