The Cleveland County School Board voted Monday night to join the USDA Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, allowing all students in the district to receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2026-27 school year.
Superintendent Davy King said 53 percent of district students qualify through federal assistance programs, well above the required threshold. Officials hope the program will increase meal participation and remain financially sustainable over its four-year term.
The board also received updates on construction of the new $12.4 million gym, reviewed elementary ATLAS test results, approved the purchase of 40 new computers, made several personnel decisions, and addressed various operational and community-related matters.
