A grand slam homerun by Logan Clark in the bottom of the fifth invoked the 10-run rule as the Woodlawn Bears won the 8-2 District Tournament with a 15-2 drubbing of the no. 2-seeded Junction City Dragons in the tournament finals Saturday at Gurdon.
Woodlawn takes the league’s no. 1 seed into this week’s Class 2A Region 4 Tournament at Mufreesboro and will face the Dierks Outlaws, the no. 4 seed from the 7-2A conference, at 3 p.m. Thursday. Woodlawn is 22-6 after having won 12 of its last 13 games with the only loss coming at Class 5A Sheridan, 6-5, in extra innings.
A win Thursday assures the Bears of another trip to the Class 2A State Tournament set for next week at Palestine-Wheatley.
