County Gets Cooler for 3-Person Morgue

Body

County Coroner Chuck Valentine told the Cleveland County Quorum Court that the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory is providing the county with a three-door cooler to serve as a temporary morgue, though the county must supply a building for it. Officials discussed using either a shipping container or portable building, with Rison funeral director Wesley Cole offering space behind the funeral home. The quorum court tabled the decision pending cost and insurance information. Court members also heard a presentation from grant-writing firm Amstra Capital LLC and approved keeping the county’s current employee health insurance plan despite a 5 percent increase.
