Noah Matheson pitched a three-hitter as the Rison Wildcats knocked off the McGehee Owls, 7-1, last Friday to clinch second place in the 8-3A conference and take the no. 2 seed into this week’s Class 3A Region 4 Tournament at Bismarck. The Wildcats will take on the Genoa Central Dragons, the no. 3 seed from the 7-3A, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7. Rison, which will wrap up the regular season today at 5 p.m. at DeWitt, goes into the post season riding a six-game win streak. The Wildcats are 8-9 overall while Genoa Central enters at 13-9-1. Should the ‘Cats win Thursday, they will earn a berth in the Class 3A State Tournament to be held next week at Harrison.
