Karen Talent
After 38 years with the Woodlawn School District, longtime educator and counselor Karen Talent retired on June 16, closing a remarkable career that began in 1988 as a science teacher before she became high school counselor in 2004. Talent taught generations of students, many of whom later became coworkers and community leaders. She reflected on memorable experiences, including flying her Physics class to Dallas for Physics Day and seeing former students succeed in college, the military, and professional careers. Over nearly four decades she witnessed major changes in campus facilities, school policies, and the increasing demands of education. A five-time Teacher of the Year and award-winning counselor, Talent leaves a lasting legacy of service, mentorship, and dedication to Woodlawn students and families.
