Molly Shelby hit two homeruns while Laci Rauls pitched a two hitter and slugged a homerun as well as the Woodlawn Lady Bears rolled by the Magnet Cover Lady Panthers, 10-1, last Friday to win the 8-2A District Tournament championship at Gurdon High School.
The Lady Bears will take the 8-2A’s no. 1 seed into this week’s Class 2A Region 4 Tournament at Murfreesboro against the Spring Hill Lady Bears, the no. 4 seed out of the 7-2A conference. Woodlawn enters post season with a 22-4 record, having won eight straight and 16 of its last 17 games. Spring Hill comes in with a 5-13 record overall.
A victory Thursday puts the Lady Bears in the Class 2A State Tournament to be held next week at Palestine-Wheatley.
