The Woodlawn Bears will take the no. 1 seed from Region 4 into this week’s Class 2A State Baseball Tournament after beating the Parkers Chapel Trojans, 12-2, in the regional championship game on Saturday. The Trojans issued 19 free bases in the game: 16 walks and three hit batters. It was the second consecutive regional game where the Bears invoked the 10-run rule. They beat the Ouachita Warriors 11-1 in the regional semifinals on Friday. They blew out the Dierks Outlaws 11-3 in the first round on Thursday.
Woodlawn (25-6) will haved the Sloane-Hendrix Greyounds (16-7) in the opening game of the tournament at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Forrest City Sports Complex. Should the Bears win, they would face the winner between Life Way Christian-Bigelow at 10 a.m. Friday at Palestine-Wheatley High School, which is the host school for the tournament.
