The Kingsland City Council is considering claiming ownership of the “pole yard” property along First Street after learning the land may not be deeded to anyone.
While most locals believe the property is owned by the Union Pacific Railroad, Paul Abeyta told the city council that his research revealed the property is not deeded to anyone and was set up as a “railroad reservation” according to a 1904 plat for the City of Kingsland. The city will investigate legal ownership, insurance and liability before making a formal decision.
Abeyta, a Kingsland native and music promoter who now lives in Camden, also proposed building a 32x26 pavilion on the property that could be used as a stage for outdoor concerts or for other purposes.
