Woodlawn turned it over six times and the Rose Bud Ramblers used some big plays to hand the Bears their first loss of the season, 54-30, Friday night at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. Both teams scored on their opening drives with Griffin Manes ending Woodlawn’s first drive with a 12-yard touchdown run and Rose Bud answering with 29-yard touchdown pass. After the Bears forced the only punt of the game, Woodlawn was driving before fumbling it away at the Rambler 19. Two plays later, Rose Bud broke off a 66-yard TD run. The Bears answered on Ace Culliford’s 15-yard touchdown run and quarterback Parker Arnold’s two-pointer tied the game, 16-16. Rose Bud scored on its next possession to go up 24-16 at the half before adding another TD on its first series of the second half, pushing the lead to 32-16. The Bears had a fumble and interception on its first two series of the second half. The Ramblers scored on the second play of the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 40-1, and the teams exchanged scores on their next two possessions to make it a 54-30 final. Arnold finished with 123 yards rushing and also had 67 yards in passing. Griffin Manes had 110 yards on the ground. Woodlawn fell to 1-1 overall with the loss.
