RISON - Big Smith Waste Services, Inc. is asking residents and businesses in Cleveland County to consider the following when disposing of their trash.
Big Smith stated the Arkansas Highway Commission recently sent letters to commercial waste haulers across the state reminding them about the laws and associated fines for littering. The company said the best way to prevent litter from blowing out of their trucks is for customers to bag all trash before putting it in the containers.
In addition, the county’s contract with Big Smith states there is no limit on the amount of household garbage to be collected, removed and disposed off on each collection date. However, all solid waste must be placed inside the 95-gallon trash container that is provided by Big Smith. Waste left outside is not part of the contract.
Big Smith will also pick up large items like old appliances, furniture, grills, etc. on the second Thursday of each month. Call the Cleveland County Treasurer’s Office at (870) 325-6681 to schedule a large item pick-up. This service is limited to just a few items at a time and is not for large collections like cleaning out houses, sheds, etc.
