County Fair, Pageants Will Be Held This Week at Rison

RISON - Cash and other prizes will be given away during the 2023 Cleveland County Fair set for this Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 14-16, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 13) with a youth-led "Revival Night of Word & Worship" featuring singing, devotions, games and discounted concessions.

Also today, entries for all the fair competitions except for baked goods and livestock will be accepted through 6 p.m. Today. Judging of the entries begins this evening and continues through Thursday. Baked goods will accepted from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday. Judging for all exhibits, including educational booths, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Judging for rabbits and poultry will begin at 5 p.m.

Also on Thursday, Sept. 14, The Kinders, a special youth entertainment group, will be performing for Head Start and elementary school groups beginning at 9:30 a.m. Senior Citizen's Day (ages 60 and older) and Veterans Day will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday with free hot dogs and homemade ice cream. The Cleveland County Fair Livestock Show will open at 5 p.m.

Students Day will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept.15, with exhibits being open to the public from noon to 8 p.m. Capping off the Friday events will be the Miss Cleveland County (ages 18-23) and Junior Fair Queen (ages 14-17) Pageants. Admission to the pageants is $5 for ages 12 and older. Concessions will be available.

On Saturday, Sept.. 16, exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Cleveland County Youth Pageants will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. The pageants in(see (continued from page 1) a.m. Saturday. The pageants include Baby Miss (ages infant to 11 mos.); Tiny Miss (12-13 mos.); Toddler Miss (2-3 years); Little Miss (4-6 years); Future Miss (7-9 years); and Princess (10-13 years). Pageant admission is $5 for ages 12 and up, and concessions will be available.

Livestock Show Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday.
