Victor Powell

Body

Victor Edward Powell affectionately known as 'Vic' was born March 6, 1939, in Rison, Arkansas to the late Wash and Ella Jane Powell. Being born in the 1930s, Vic experienced and lived through things we now read about online or in books. He began his Christian journey at an early age and attended the public school system in Rison. He completed his high school education in Rison, Arkansas and attended AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for two years. As he continued his journey through life, Vic left Arkansas and landed in Flint, Michigan, where he would build an amazing life.

While residing in Flint, Vic began working for General Motors. Soon after he married Gladys (Crain) and became an instant dad to Ronald 'Wayne' and Christopher 'Chris' Crain. He was hard-working and instilled those values in his family. He rarely called in sick and kept people laughing at GM until he retired after 33 years. He was a faithful member of Macedoma Missionary Baptist Church and really enjoyed Sunday School. His guilty pleasures were golfing, McDonald's coffee, anything spicy (peppers, sauce), daily visits to Me.er or Kroger, the Michigan State Spartans and his man cave better known as the basement kitchen. He also worked hard in his yard until he needed help and obtained it from his nephew Raymond 'Slim' Williams.

Vic leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gladys; two sons, Wayne Crain and Chris (Sayvil) Crain, all of Flint; four grandchildren, Sharonna (Robert) Owens of Bloomington, IL, DelTino (Khaleila) Crain of Indianapolis, IN, Latoya Crain of Flint, and Jameika Crain of Indianapolis, IN; and one great grandchild, Chyna Crain of Flint. He is also survived by one sister, Orris Hall of Flint. He has two sisters-in-law, a brother-inlaw and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, five brothers, one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and three great grandchildren Tristen 'Bruiser' Crain, Tayvion 'Bear' Crowder, and Calvin 'Mikey' Leeper.

Funeral services were Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, MI. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Arrangements by Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home of Flint, MI.
