10 YEARS AGO JUNE 19, 2013 The Kingsland City Council accepted the resignation of city financial director/secretary Renee Parnell at its regular monthly meeting Monday night, and then voted to eliminate the position altogether. Parnell had worked for the city since 2005. City recorder/treasurer Leann Huntley has been handling the office duties for the city since June 5. Parnell had previously served as the recorder/treasurer for the City of Kingsland, but after moving outside the city limits, she could not run for re-election and Huntley was elected to the position last year. Huntley officially took over the job on January 1. In November, the city council approved two ordinances that created the two jobs that Parnell held - financial director and city secretary. After accepting Parnell's resignation on Monday, the council repealed the ordinances establishing the two new positions.
