Mother-sister combos Melissa Mitchell, Vonda Shipman, Marie McGriff and Carolyn Shipman, all from the Start City area, pose for a fun photo in front of their booths during the Hwy. 35 Junk Hunt Saturday morning at the Pioneer Village hub in Rison. The mother and sisters have had a booth at the Pioneer Village for the past two years. They, along with Barbara Griffin of Rison, reported that they had brisk sales on the first day of the event last Thursday despite the rainy weather and cooler temperatures. Both said they were satisfied with how the event had gone. Griffin said he had nearly sold out by Saturday morning. While the Junk Hunt provides an opportunity to earn some extra cash, both said getting to meet and visit with people from across the state and other places is just as valuable to them.
