Bears’ Late Rally Falls Short at Junction City, 56-51

JUNCTION CITY - Woodlawn’s Jude Roberts hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to cut Junction City’s lead to four, but the Dragons were able to hang on for a 56-51 victory over the Bears in a crucial 8-2A showdown Tuesday night at Junction City. Junction City moved to 8-1 in conference play and into sole possession of first place with the victory while Woodlawn drops to 7-2 in league action in a second-place tie with Fordyce.  The two teams entered Tuesday night’s game with identical 7-1 conference marks, but the Bears owned the tie-breaker by virtue of their 54-51 win over the Dragons back on Dec. 14 at Woodlawn. The Bears lost at Fordyce, 61-52, on Dec. 12. However, the Bears came charging back, using a couple of dunks by Raylon Lawson and Roberts’ corner 3 to cut it to 55-51 with 14 seconds left. The Dragons converted one of two free throws after Roberts’ shot. However, Woodlawn’s ensuing 3-point attempt was off the mark and Junction City was able to hang on for the win.  The Bears fell to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in conference with the loss. The Dragons improved to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in league action. Woodlawn 65, Fordyce 61 WOODLAWN - Jake Allred and Jude Roberts both hit 3-pointers in the final minute of regulation as the Woodl...
