KIRBY - Woodlawn used an explosive start to build a quick 17point lead as the Bears blew out the Murfreesboro Rattlers, 8341, in the first round game of the Kirby Tournament on Monday.The Bears raced out to a 26-9 lead by the end of the first quarter before extending it to a 43-23 lead by halftime. Woodlawn invoked the running clock with a 29-point third quarterto up by a 72-36 margin to start the fourth.Luke Roberts, who played for a about two and half quarters, led all scorers with 30. Josh Trantham followed with 14 while Spencer Towery had 10. Roberts, Trantham, Towery and Jake Allred all had two 3-pointers apiece in the game.The Bears improved to 9-4 overall with the win.Woodlawn 59, Quitman 38HEBER SPRINGS - A fourthquarter surge allowed Woodlawn to pull away as the Bears knocked off the Quitman Bulldogs, 59-38, in the Heber Springs Holiday Classic on Dec. 20 at Heber Springs.The Bears were nursing a single- digit lead for most of the game and were up 41-32 to start the fourth quarter.
