Crossett Holds Off Rison; Lions Strand Wildcats, 4-2

RISON - After trailing by four runs early, Rison fought back to make it a one-run game before the Crossett Eagles used a couple of clutch two-out hits in the sixth to come away with 7-3 victory over the Wildcats Tuesday evening at Wildcat Field.A RBI single and a passed ball gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the second before another run off an error in the third made it 3-0. Crossett plated yet another run off an error with two outs in the fourth to extend its lead to 4-0.The Wildcats finally answered in the bottom of the fourth when a hit batter, a single by Matthew Howard and a Crossett error loaded the bases with no outs. Ayden Laws then singled drive in a run, and after a fly out, Owen Morrison drew a basesloaded walk to push run across.Brock Southerland then dropped a single into centerfield to score in another run, and it was suddenly a 4-3 game with the bases still loaded and one out. However, a strikeout and ground out ended the threat.The Eagles got all three of those runs back in the top of the sixth off a two-run double and a single.Rison was not able to answer this time as a two-out single by Southerland in the sixth was the only runner the 'Cats put aboard the rest of the game.The Wildcats had five hits against the Eagles. Southerland accounted for two of those while Laws, Howard and Lawson Kidd had the others. Rison used four pitchers in the game. Southerland got the start and went two innings before giving way to Ethan Saeler, who went three and two-thirds innings. Howard and Andrew Couture finished out the game with two-thirds of an inning apiece.Collectively, Wildcats pitchers gave up six hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts. Hamburg 4, Rison 2HAMBURG - Rison had its opportunities but was unable to push the runs across as the Wildcats dropped a 4-2 decision to the Class 4A Hamburg Lions Monday afternoon at Hamburg in the debut of new Rison Coach Chad Cope....
