LITTLE ROCK - An interception in the end zone with a little more than a minute left ended a late comeback by the Rison Wildcats as the Class 5A Joe T. Robinson Senators junior varsity hung on for a 28-24 victory last Friday night at Charlie George Stadium on the Robinson campus.Rison completed its non-conference schedule with a 1-2 record, and will open 8-3A conference play at 7 p.m. this Friday against the 3-0 Palestine-Wheatley Patriots at George Walker Field of Champions.Turnovers were a key factor in the game as the Wildcats had four on the night. Rison fumbled it away on its opening series of both the first and second half, and had two interceptions in between.Up 16-14 at halftime, the 'Cats stopped the Senators on fourth down at the Rison 35 to open the second half. However, on the next play, however, the Wildcats fumbled it away, setting up the Senators with a fresh set of downs at the Rison 36. Three plays later, Robinson had a 15yard touchdown pass to Will Moore that gave the Senators a lead they would never relinquish. Robinson's pass on the two-point conversion made it 22-16 with 8:12 left in the third.The Senators extended their lead with an 11-play, 54-yard scoring drive that was kept alive by a defensive pass interference call against the 'Cats on a fourthdown play. A six-yard touchdown pass to Henry Kimbrough ended the drive, but Rison stopped the two-point attempt to leave it 28-16 with 10:47 left in the game.Rison answered with a quick three-play, 56-yard scoring drive of its own. Taking over at the Wildcat 44, quarterback Kyson Walker ripped off a 21-yard run to start the possession, and after a six-yard pick up from Jeremiah Marshall, Walker broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run with 9:41 left. Jaquis Rauls punched in the two-pointer to make it 2824.Walker, who finished with 137 yards on 16 carries, then came up with another big play when he picked off a Robinson pass and returned it to the Rison 42.
