Open Date Should Help Bears Heal, Sharpen Fundamentals

WOODLAWN - Coach Zach Meyer and the Woodlawn Bears will be using this week's bye as a chance to heal up and polish up on fundamentals as they prepare to travel to Strong on Sept. 29 to open eight-man South Conference play.

Makeshift Bears Come Up Short To Genoa Central

WOODLAWN - Despite turning over the ball five times and suffering some untimely penalties, the ailing Woodlawn Bears still had a chance to at least tie the game on the final play of Friday night's game against the Class 4A Genoa Central Dragons.

Woodlawn Powder Puff Game To Be Held This Friday

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn High School has announced it will be holding a powder puff football game at 7 p.m. This Friday, Sept. 22, at the Carl Jones Sports Complex to help raise money for the football program. Admission is $3 but donations will also be accepted.

Rison 7th Grade Falls To England, 28-14

RISON - The Rison 7th grade Wildcats slipped to 1-1 on the season following a 28-14 setback at the hands of a mix of 7th/8th graders from England Thursday evening of last week at George Walker Field of Champions. Rison head coach Caleb Carmikle said the Lions were "big up front and very athletic.

WOODLAWN - Aden Moore is emerging as a dual-threat quarterback for Woodlawn after eclipsing the 100-yard mark in both rushing and passing as the Bears rolled past the Midland Mustangs, 44-14, in a non-conference victory Friday night at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.
