Rison Hires New Baseball, Girls Basketball Coach

RISON - Chad Cope, the current baseball coach at Class 6A North Little Rock High School and a 1996 graduate of Rison High School, was approved as the new baseball coach for the Rison Wildcats during the Cleveland County School Board's regular monthly meeting Monday night.

Woodlawn Hires Principal; Gives Raise

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School Board accepted the resignation of Elementary Principal Barbara Varnell and approved the hiring of Heather Cox to be her replacement during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

Taylor Holds Off Saeler To Keep CCSB Zone 3

RISON - Zone 3 representative Kelly Taylor kept her seat on the seven-member Cleveland County School Board by holding off challenger Steven Saeler by a 64-54 vote during Tuesday's school election. Both candidates were from the Kingsland area.

Veterans' Names Still Being Collected For New Plaque

RISON - The Cleveland County Veterans Association has announced that it has extended its submission period for collecting names of veterans for a new plaque that will be placed at Veterans Park in Rison.

Foster Grandparent Program Needs Volunteers at Rison

RISON - Classroom Grandparents are needed at Rison Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. The Southeast Arkansas Education Cooperative has received a federal grant to expand the Foster Grandparent Program to Cleveland County.
