Rison Sees Setback on Project

RISON - Construction on the City of Rison’s new wastewater treatment plant located at the solid waste transfer station on Hwy. 79 has been slowed after the concrete used in the new structure was found to be defective.

RISON - The section of U.S. Hwy. 79 that runs through Cleveland County could soon be recognized as the Johnny Cash Heritage Highway after the Cleveland County Quorum Court and Rison City Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the move this week.

Assessor Barbara Reaves To Retire at End of Term

RISON - Cleveland County Assessor Barbara Reaves has announced that she will be retiring from office once she completes here current term that ends Dec. 31, 2026.Reaves is the second county official that has announced intentions to retire at the end of their current term.

Rison Methodist Food Pantry Serves 100+ Families, Hosting Fundraiser May 8 for Support

RISON - The Rison United Methodist Church Food Pantry/Outreach Committee is sponsoring a Dorey’s Fish Fry Thursday,May 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $17.00 each, and all proceeds go to the purchase of food for the Food Pantry.

KINGSLAND - The April meeting of the Kingsland City Council that was scheduled for last Thursday, April 24, was canceled due to a lack of a quorum court, said Kingsland Mayor Karen Wiscaver announced.Wiscaver also announced that the May meeting for the Kingsland City Council has been moved to 6 p.m.

RISON - Cleveland County Assessor Barbara Reaves has issued a reminder that the deadline to assess business and personal property is Monday, June 2.The Assessor's office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be closed Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Rural Water Offers Petitions for Board
