Jim Houston of the Rye community and Stephen McClellan of New Edinburg will face one another in a runoff election in the Republican primary on March 31.
None of the four candidates running for the position receive more than 50 percent of the vote, which is required to avoid a runoff.
Houston receive the most votes with 622 (34 percent) followed by McClellan with 525 (29 percent), Rickey Spencer of Kingsland with 387 (21 percent) and Rosemary Sinclair of the Staves community with 295 (16 percent).
Early voting for the runoff will begin Tuesday, March 24. The winner of the Republican primary for county judge will be unopposed in the November general election, and will assume office on Jan. 1, 2027.
Overall, 1,958 of the 4,513 registered voters in the county voted in the primary, equating to a a 43.3 percent voter turnout.
