The Pioneer Village announced Thursday’s fundraising efforts raised $15,000 to go toward the development of Heritage Hall on the facility located at the corner of Mockingbird and Yaney Streets in Rison. The fundraisers included the first-ever Jail-n-Bail utilizing the replica jail at the Pioneer Village, a fish fry fundraiser, dessert sale and more.
Several people from the community ranging from Rison Mayor Charles Roberts, incoming Cleveland County Judge Jim Houston, Rison Football Coach Chris Vereen and others were “arrested” and had to make bail.
Plans are to convert exhibit Building 1 at the Pioneer Village into a climate-controlled community room called Heritage Hall equipped with a stage suitable for live performances as well as public and private gatherings.
