Woodlawn baseball coach Tommy Richardson reached his 800th career victory when his Bears beat the Rose Bud Ramblers, 6-2, on March 28.
He ranks second in career wins for high school baseball coaches in Arkansas. Morgan Gilbert, who retired from Tuckerman High School in in 2013 after a 48-year career, has the Arkansas high school career record with 1,030 baseball victories.
Now in his 33rd season with his alma mater, Richardson has won nine state championships, four state runner-up trophies, 13 regional champions and 25 district titles at his alma mater. After Thursday’s win over Bauxite, Richardson’s overall record at Woodlawn is 805-160, equating to an 83 percent winning percentage.
