The Woodlawn School Board will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight (Monday, Nov. 17) to make a decision on whether the move forward with a “conceptional budget” of $1.44 million to expand the Woodlawn School cafeteria. The meeting was originally set for 7 p.m. but Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock said it has since been moved to 6 p.m. During its regular monthly meeting last Monday, Brody Richardson of Brody Richardson Construction of Woodlawn gave the board an estimated cost of $1.44 million to add about 2,754 square feet of space to the cafeteria to expand the seating capacity for students. In addition the project includes some kitchen renovations, additional cold storage and a second serving line. Some of the school board members said they felt the price was higher than they anticipated, though it was lower than what the previous construction manager had estimated. The board decided to take some time to think about it and decided to vote on it this week instead.
