Lady ‘Cats Rally But Fall to McGehee, 6-5

RISON - After battling back from a five-run deficit to tie the game, the McGehee Lady Owls used a couple of singles to score what turned out to be the winning run in the fifth inning as they slipped by the Rison Lady Wildcats, 6-5, in a tight 8-3A battle Tuesday at Lady Wildcat Field.The Lady Owls used a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead in the first and then added four more in the third off  two walks, two doubles and a single, giving McGehee a 5-0 lead.Rison, however, cut into that lead in the bottom of the third.After a strikeout to start the frame, Jazlyn Price singled and Riley Hyatt reached on an error. Rhagen Price followed with a hit to plate the Lady Wildcats’ first run. Mackenzie King then followed with another single to tack on one more run and a ground out by Haven Simpson added another. Claire Socia followed with another hit to drive another one home to make it 5-4.Rison tied the game 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth when Rhagen Price smashed a triple that scored Hyatt.The Lady Owls had a runner on first with two out in the fifth when back-to-back singles scored what turned out to be the winning run for McGehee.Rison tried to rally as King led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, and two outs later, Summar had a hit to put runners at first and third. A ground out, however, ended the frame.The Lady ‘Cats had a two-out single in the sixth by Hyatt, and Haven Simpson was it by pitch with one out in the seventh but both runners were left stranded.Rison tagged McGehee for 12 hits compared to 10 for the Lady Owls. King went a sizzling 3-for-4 at the plate while Jazlyn Price, Hyatt, Rhagen Price  and Summar all had two hits apiece. Hyatt and Rhagen Price both had triples in the game.Railyn Smith took the pitching loss for the Lady Wildcats. Rison fell to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play with thesetback.Lonoke 11, Rison 6RISON - L...
