Lady Bears Fall To Star City

STAR CITY - Star City scored three runs off three errors in the fourth inning as the Class 4A Lady Bulldogs knocked off the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 5-2, in a final non-conference road game before post-season tournament action begins Thursday.Addison Holland’s RBI single in the first gave Woodlawn a 1-0 lead before Jaci Hoyt and Kendall Tooke had back-to-back two-out singles in the second that added one more to make it 2-0.The score stayed that way until the fourth when Star City led off with a single and back-to-back errors led to one run scoring. The Lady ‘Dogs then laid down a sacrifice bunt to tie the game before taking the lead, 3-2, on another error.Star City had three hits in the fifth to add its final two runs.The Lady Bears out-hit the Lady Bulldogs, 7-5. Hoyt had two hits for Woodlawn while Tooke, Holland, Karsyn Chastain, Anniston Wright and Maeley Simmons had one apiece.Molly Shelby was the starting pitcher for Woodlawn, going three innings giving up one hit and one walk with six strikeouts. Chastain tossed the next two frames, giving up four hits and one walk. Laci Rauls finished out the final inning without giving up a hit or walk and striking out two....
