ROGERS, Ark. — Rogers Police Officer Fred Marsh died Saturday, July 18, in an off-duty incident. Marsh, 24, was a 2020 graduate of Rison High School.
According to a news release from Rogers Police Department, Marsh died while canoeing with family at the Elk River.
The release says Officer Marsh served with “unwavering commitment” and that he had already become a valued member of the department after graduating the Academy just three months ago.
“This is a heartbreaking loss for our department,” Rogers Police Chief Jonathan Best said. “Officer Marsh had a bright future ahead of him and had already made a positive impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. His willingness to serve others and the enthusiasm he brought to this profession will not be forgotten. Our hearts are with Fred’s family, his fiancee, and everyone who knew and loved him. We ask our community to keep them, as well as our officers and professional staff, in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
