CCSB Votes To Move 2025 Election To Consider Options

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board voted Tuesday night to move its annual school election from May to November next year to give the district more time to consider its financial options regarding two projects that have been accepted into the state’s partnership funding program.

Kingsland Approves CCSD Police Contract

RISON - The Kingsland City Council voted in a special-called meeting last Friday evening at Kingsland City Hall to renew its contract with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services, Mayor Sharon Crosby said.

FFA To Host Bingo, Burgers Thursday

RISON - The Rison High School FFA Chapter will host a Burgers and Bingo event at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, this Thursday, Nov. 14 beginning at 4:30 p.m.Burgers will be served first, with bingo beginning at 5 p.m.Purchase a burger plate to go, or stay for bingo to win fun prizes.

UAM Choirs To Perform Holiday Recital Sunday

MONTICELLO - The Chamber and Concert Choirs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will perform at the annual SEARK Concert Association’s concert, “How Sweet the Sound,” on Nov. 17 at 3:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at UAM. Following the performance, guests are invited to a reception.

RISON - The Promised Land Hunting Club held its 20th annual youth hunt Saturday, November 2, 2024. Raylon Thompson received trophies for harvesting the largest doe and a hog. A devotional was presented by Raylon Thompson followed by a meal served to the hunters and guests.

RYE - Glenda, a Rye Extension Homemakers member, is pictured with crochet washcloths that have been made and are being donated to go into Christmas boxes that Center Missionary Baptist Church is putting together to be mailed. The ladies meet at Prosperity Church on Tuesday afternoons to crochet.

RISON - The 4-H Blacksmith Club is open to youth (age 9-19) interested in learning to make metal items by hand.The next meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 16 from 3-5 p.m. at the Pioneer Village in Rison.
