After completing their gingerbread houses, each house was entered in a contest sponsored by the Cleveland County Herald. King finished second in the 12 and Under division.

The Call in Cleveland County is a Christian-based organization that supports adoptive and foster families in Cleveland County. The Cleveland County Herald sponsors the contest after the workshop. First place winners received $40 cash, second place $25 and third place $15.
