RISON - Cleveland County as well as all surrounding counties were placed under a winter storm watch by the National Weather Service (NWS) on Tuesday afternoon.According to the NWS, a “high impact winter weather event” is expected to occur between 6 p.m. Friday night, Jan. 23, through 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25.A mixture of snow and sleet accumulations between 1 to 3 inches is expected across the southern third of Arkansas, according to the NWS. Freezing rain accumulations of a quarter inch to half inch are possible over far southern Arkansas.The NWS stated that “travel could be nearly impossible.”Temperatures are expected to be below freezing Friday evening until Tuesday with low temperatures reaching into the low- to mid-teens Friday through Sunday night, and possibly into the single digits Monday night....
