Pat Berry Sworn in as District 6 Justice of the Peace

Pat Berry (right) of the Calmer community was sworn in as the new District 6 Justice of Peace  last Friday, Feb. 27, by Cleveland County Clerk Brandy Herring (left). Berry was appointed by Gov. Sarah Sanders to fill the unexpired term of the late Justice Owen Rushing, who passed away in January. Berry, who is chairman of the Cleveland County Republican Party, will represent District 6 on the nine-member Cleveland County Quorum Court through Dec. 31. After the primary election, the Cleveland County Republican Party will elect someone to replace Rushing on the November general election ballot. Rushing was the only candidate to file for the District 6 seat before his passing. Whoever is elected by the Cleveland County Republican Party will be unopposed in the November general election....
