CCSB Addresses Use of School Buildings

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board voted Monday night to have people using buildings at both the New Edinburg and Kingsland School campuses for non-school purposes to leave those buildings as the district considers its options about what to do with the properties in the future.

RISON - Alli Beth King was crowned Cleveland County Fair Queen at the 2023 Miss Cleveland County pageant held Friday evening at the Fairgrounds in Rison. Claire Socia was crowned Junior Fair Queen. Gabrielle Frye was first runner up in the Fair Queen division.

County Fair Sees Big Increase in Entries

RISON - While overall attendance to the Cleveland County Fair was down this year, Fair Board President Roy Phillips reported that they did see a "significant increase" in the number of entries they received for the county fair exhibits as well as for the payout for those entries.

CHAD MARSHALL BAND TO PERFORM AT RISON IN THE FALL - The Chad Marshall Band, a Delta Blues trio from Pine Bluff, will be one of three featured acts at this year's Rison in the Fall Festival, to be held Saturday, Oct. 7. The trio will perform around 5 p.m. followed by Arkansas country band Midnight South and headliner country music hitmaker David Nail. RISON - The Cleveland County Extension Homemakers Council is looking to preserve a piece of local history by framing a nine foot by nine foot quilt "Service Men's Quilt" made in 1944 with more than 900 names of men and women who were serving or had served in World War II.
