County Sees Gains In Sales Tax Revenue

RISON - After seeing a consistent decline in sales tax collections throughout much of 2024, Cleveland County seems to have rebounded this year as the county has recorded year-toyear monthly gains in sales tax collections so far through 2025.

Woodlawn To Hold Open House Thursday

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School District will be having Open House for kindergarten through 12th grades from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at the elementary and high school.Seventh grade orientation will be held at 5 p.m.

Kingsland Council Will Meet Aug. 28

KINGSLAND - The next regular meeting of the Kingsland City Council will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Kingsland City Hall, Mayor Karen Wiscaver has announced. The Kingsland City Council usually meets the fourth Thursday of each month.

Food Pantry Aug. 16 at Macedonia MBC

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7370 Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Aug. 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

Local Toys for Tots Group Wraps Up Busy July

We had a great month! We kicked off the month by reading two books, Flome the Gnome and Flome the Gnome Counts to Twelve, to kids at the Star City Library. Afterwards, we helped them become authors/illustrators by helping them with creating their own stories.

Hanks, Thompson Place at State 4-H Orama

RISON - Ben Hanks and Madelyn Thompson from the 4-H Homeschool Club competed in the 4-H State Orama in Fayetteville. The two completed in the Illustrated Talks competition. Ben placed second in the horse category. Madelyn placed first in the state in the health category.
