Woodlawn Announces Court, Activities for Homecoming

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn High School will begin the 2025 Homecoming Activities on Thursday, Oct. 30 with the annual afternoon Homecoming Ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m., school will be dismissed immediately after. On Thursday evening, the Homecoming Ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m.

Holcomb Family Concert Nov. 9 at Macedonia

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church will host the Holcomb Family in concert Sunday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m.Food and fellowship will follow the concert.The church is located at 7370 Hwy 35 south of Rison.

King Goes Over Gym Details at Rison Meeting

RISON - Superintendent Davy King and the Cleveland County School Board held its second community meeting on the proposed 6-mill tax increase to fund construction of a new gym Monday evening inside the Rison gymnasium.The third and final community meeting on the millage will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Huge Crowd Attends Rison in the Fall Festival Before Storm Forces Cancellation of Concert

RISON - Though rain and storms blowing through caused an abrupt end to the 35th annual Rison in the Fall Festival, the organizers are still considering Saturday's event a huge success."We had more vendors this year than we've ever had," said Douglas Boultinghouse, director of the festival.

Great South Arkansas Junk Hunt Runs Thursday-Sunday

RISON - The fall run of the Great South Arkansas Junk Hunt takes place this week, Oct. 23-26.The Junk Hunt is the merged route of two smaller hunts, the former Historic Hwy. 35 Junk Hunt and the Hwy. 79-63 Junk Hunt Loop, both of which Cleveland County served as the epicenter.
