KINGSLAND - Mayor-elect Samantha Johnson got an early start on her new position when the Kingsland City Council appointed her to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Karen Wiscaver, who decided to resign the office.

RISON - The American Legion Post 83 will host a Fourth of July Community Celebration Saturday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison.The celebration of food, fellowship and fun will include military displays, hot dogs, hamburgers and more.
