May 17 BBQ Will Support Scholarship for Weems, Sturgis

RISON - The Busy Bees Extension Homemakers Club at Kingsland is holding a barbeque fundraiser May 17 to start a scholarship fund in memory of Callie Weems and Roy Sturgis, two Kingsland residents who were victims of the Fordyce mass shooting.

Rison FFA Auction, Burgers April 24

RISON - Rison High School FFA is hosting an Auction and Burger Dinner Thursday, April 24 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Food starts at 5 p.m. as well as the silent auction. The live auction will begin at 6 p.m. and the silent auction will close at 6 p.m.

RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 26.The church holds its food pantry the fourth Saturday of each month.

RISON - The Rison Volunteer Fire Department will host Leon’s Catfish for a fundraiser lunch Monday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.$20 tickets can be purchased from a firefighter, or at the Herald office, 215 Main Street.
