10 YEARS AGO DECEMBER 17, 2014 A Star City woman, Molly Mc-Cool, 42, linked to an attempt to have her estranged husband killed in Cleveland County early this year, has agreed to serve 15 years in prison as part of a plea agreement reached Monday in Cleveland County Circuit Court. McCool entered a guilty plea for one count of conspiracy to commit capital murder and one count of battery II. McCool was facing the felony charges for her connection to an attempted shooting of her estranged husband, Sam McCool, at 2790 Rodgers Road West near the Pleasant Ridge community. The shooting occurred on the morning of January 22, 2014. The shot missed Sam McCool. Court records showed that Molly McCool had asked Joe Wayne Lunsford, 64, also of Star City, to kill Sam Mc-Cool on the notion that she would marry him and have his baby if he followed through on her request. Lunsford was also arrested and was charged with attempted capital murder and terroristic act. Lunsford recently underwent a mental evaluation and was found competent to stand trial.Former Kingsland recorder/ treasurer Renee Parnell has received four years probation and ordered to pay restitution and court fees after entering a plea agreement involving theft of funds from the City of Kingsland and the Kingsland Fire Department. Parnell was accused of taking $7,532 from the Kingsland bond and fine account, $6,568 from the Kingsland Fire Department account and $471 in cash from a Kingsland Fire Department fundraiser.Among the large gathering at Tuesday's annual barbecue in the Staves community, given by the Wilson Bros. Lumber Co., were Governor-elect Asa Hutchinson, U.S. Senator-elect Tom Cotton, and Fourth District Congressman-elect Bruce Westerman.
