10  YEARS  AGONOVEMBER  17,  2015The Kingsland City Council approved a healthier 2016 city budget and heard a report on a $250,000 street improvement plan for next year during its regular monthly meeting Monday night. Also, the recent decision to drop the town's marshal position netted more than $16,000 in savings.The Cleveland County School Board unanimously approved a one-time payment of $500 to all employees during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Supt. Johnnie Johnson said the total cost for the school district employees would be $72,990, while the payments to the Head Start employees would be $12,665.A General Improvement Fund grant from the state, totaling $1,000, could help start a new food pantry for the Rison area that can help provide for those in need throughout the year.Two Kingsland men have been arrested and a third suspect is being sought for their alleged connection with an October 26 break-in at the City of Kingsland's storage building. It was reported that computers and electronics were stolen.Following a first round bye last week, the Rison Wildcats will open play Friday night at home in the Class 2A state football playoffs, facing the Gurdon Go-Devils.Cleveland County is off to another strong start for the 2015-16 deer season.
