10  YEARS  AGONOVEMBER  24,  2015The City of Kingsland has officially acquired the town's old post office building on First Street, putting the city one step closer to establishing a museum facility that will celebrate the community's link to country music icon Johnny Cash, a Kingsland native.The Pioneer Village Commission toured the Pioneer Village here last Wednesday to make an initial assessment of the condition of the buildings and other structures on the property. A long range plan to restore and revitalize the facility will be proposed once the research is complete. The function of the newly formed commission is to oversee and make recommendations to the City of Rison concerning the operation and upkeep of the Village.John T. Reed, 77, of the "Y" community, a former Cleveland County circuit clerk, county coroner and deputy sheriff, died.Gurdon's Jackie Harvell rushed for 265 yards on 19 carries, but the Rison Wildcats overcame the running back's outstanding performance to rally past the Go-Devils, 26-21, in the second round of the Class 2A state football playoffs here Friday night. Rison scored the winning touchdown with just 1:44 left in the game, when Chris Leaks crossed the goalline on fourth and two from the five-yard line, capping the Wildcats' 23-play, 93-yard drive that consumed over 10 minutes.
