Kingsland Mayor Samantha Johnson announced that customers with delinquent water bills must pay their balances in full by Aug. 5 or face water shutoffs. During her first full council meeting as mayor, the council also approved an ordinance separating the recorder and treasurer offices to avoid potential conflicts of interest. In addition, officials adopted several resolutions standardizing city operations, including employee time sheets, job applications, biweekly payroll, office hours, and restructuring a part-time administrative position. Johnson also recognized Councilwoman Linda Burns for helping clean up City Hall.
